Greece Ahoy
Against the wall in Preveza, water and electric at a small charge…enjoyed the town, restaurants and bars.
Sailed across the bay and then through the Lefkas canal which was very lovely with flamingos and egrets alongside.
Into Vliho bay which had huge jellyfish and murky water so not a good combination so a very hesitant swim and just an overnight stay. Stayed a night on the wall in Nidri for a meal and a swim at the little beach.
Next day off to Cephalonia but a head wind was too close for comfort so eased off and headed to Ithaca for the night instead, then into Poros on Cephalonia the next day, a horseshoe harbour so everyone seemed to anchor in the same place a bit hairy, the evening breeze picked up and the harbour became very uncomfortable.
Agios Nicholas on Zante the next day where Al was unwell for a few days… good swimming.
Awaiting Leighton’s brother and family in Zante so we arrived a few days early, to prepare.
Rodney thought we were still in Corfu so had quite a shock (a good one we hope) when he saw us aboard.
A lovely week with them with Mat taking us around and then they hired a car for us so we could meet up…. A brilliant fun week.
After a tidy up and washing we left for Meganissi where we anchored in Atheni bay enjoying swimming and snorkelling.
Next after a pleasant sail to Porto Varko where we watched divers sponge fishing with a compressor on the deck and thin tubes going down to two divers, looked very dangerous to us.
For our special birthday presents Sheryl managed to get us tickets for the rugby world cup at Twickenham (absolutely thrilled) leaving Zig in Cleopatra marina, we flew home (which felt really weird) where another surprise awaited us … Craig our son arrived the next day and not only was going to Twickenham with us but also coming out with us and Sheryl for a week’s holiday to celebrate Al’s 60th.
A brilliant surprise and after a fantastic day experiencing Twickenham and the atmosphere we even met Laurence Dallaglio and Matt Dawson! A fantastic day even though we lost…
After a few hours sleep we flew back to Greece and rejoined Zig and took the boat across to Preveza it felt very cool but luckily soon warmed up..
A fantastic week with the kids around some of our haunts.
After they left we went to Vonitsa on the wall and stayed several days as we were sheltered from the expected strong winds. Enjoyed the castle and the restaurants and then back to Preveza for lay up jobs before taking her out of the water for the winter.
Whilst there we actually saw our first ever seahorse a few yards from the boat in about a foot of murky water.
The end of a lovely season…
